Shidan Yoritomo - 6th Div. Taichou
NAME; Shidan Yoritomo
NAME MEANING; Breaking the name down slightly can turn it to mean "Servant of the Division/Army"
ALIAS NAMES; Roku-Taichou
AGE; Appears:27yrs. True Age: 591yrs.
GENDER; Male
RACE; Shinigami
RANK; Taichou of the Sixth Division - Internal Affairs
POWER CLASS; A
HOW DO YOU LOOK?;
- Sunken Eyes
- Sickly
- Leather Coat Under Hatori
- Writing on R.Sleeve Hatori: "The Truth Shall Be Found"
- Writing on L.Sleeve Hatori: "Loyalty Till Death"
- Pale Skin Tone
- Dark Clothing
Yoritomo is an odd man to look at. Some people may see him as someone who deserves pity, others would think him a menace to society. Why you may ask? Simply because of how he looks... His hair falls in thick, uneven locks around his head. The hair itself seems somewhat oily and may look dirty to someone who didn't notice that it was just naturally messy. His skin is a pasty white that makes him look sickly and starved and even if it did have color it looks stretched as if he were starved. Odd that someone who looks like they could die in the next minute actually holds the rank of Taichou of the Sixth Division. One of the things that puts people off the most are probably Yoritomo's eyes. They are a very, very dark blue. So dark that they look like they are black most of the time. With such dark eyes combined with his natural expression which makes him look depressed it is no wonder why people think he is up to something or is ready to die.
Yoritomo's sense of fashion does not help the matter either. He prefers to stick with darker clothing, normally he wears his shinigami robes with a large leather coat on top of it. He can't remember when he got the coat, but he has had it for some four-hundred plus years and has worn it ever since. The only time he is seen without the coat is when he is fighting or when in the 6th division barracks. Aside from the coat and robes Yoritomo also frequently wears leather gloves, unlike his coat he prefers to leave these on when he is fighting, mainly because they give him a better grip on his zanpaktou.
HOW DO YOU FEEL?;
PERSONALITY;
- Sees 6th Division as Family
- Places Loyalty with the Captain-Commander. Not Central-46
- Tends to Stay Withdrawn
- Tends to Alienate Members of Other Divisions
- Protective of all Shinigami, but more so the 6th
Yoritomo is kind of an odd man, but understandably so. When he came to the Soul Society no one would take him in, not even the gang like groups throughout the various districts. He had to live a life of seclusion and loneliness. He never made a friend while in the districts, everyone thought he was either going to kill them or that he was sick and that they should stay away from him.
Due to all of this neglect and seclusion Yoritomo has learned to be very quiet and keep to himself, even after he was welcomed to the Gotei 13 he kept to himself, that is probably why he has made very few friends. To be honest in his whole time with the shinigami, Yoritomo has probably only made three or four real friends. Even they don't get too close to Yoritomo though... About the only person that can get more than a dozen words from is the Captain-Commander. Even then the friendship tends to stay more formal due the difference of rank. The only other person Yoritomo ever felt really close to was the former captain of the Sixth Division...
When he first took the rank of captain he had absolutely no clue what to do...the man he had served for nearly three hundred years had died. In all honesty he was lost for nearly six months before he actually put real effort into the position. With his commander dead he had latched on to the only superior left above him. The Captain-Commander is now the one who holds his loyalty...or his leash, however people prefer to view it. For the past hundred some years he has followed his orders and tried to become more like the man his captain had been...although Yoritomo still seems to alienate most of the Gotei not only from his duties as the captain in charge of internal affairs, but also do to his odd and secluded personality and appearence. His own squad for the most part has come to accept him as he is, some even like him. The other Court Squads though...not so much.
The funny thing is, Yoritomo sees all shinigami as part of his family. Members of his division are obviously closer to him and in so he sees them as younger sisters or brothers. Other division members are normally viewed as cousins, nephew or nieces. Even if the the person is older them him he still sees them as a younger sibling. The only one excluded from this is the Captain-Commander who Yoritomo sees as a father figure to the entire Seireitei.
SHOW ME YO' MOVES;
EQUIPMENT;
- Shinigami Cell
- Zanpaktou
- Gigai
- Soul Candy
KIDO;
- 26. Kyakko | Curving Light | Hides the target from sight, presumably by bending light. The spell has the ability to totally hide the presence and reiatsu of the user or specified object.
- 39. Enkosen |Arc Shield | Summons a shield of condensed Reiatsu to block opponents' attacks.
- 61. Rikujōkōrō | Six Rods Prison of Light | Summons six thin, wide beams of light that slam into a target's midsection, holding them in place. The target is then unable to move any part of their body including the parts that were not struck by the beams.
Incantation: "Carriage of Thunder. Bridge of a spinning wheel. With light, divide this into six!"
- 81. Danku | Splitting Void | Creates an energy barrier in the form of a rectangular wall. According to Byakuya, it is capable of stopping destructive spells up to #89.
- 4. Byakurai | Pale Lightning | The user fires a concentrated, powerful lightning bolt from their finger.
- 33. Sōkatsui | Blue Fire, Crash Down | Fires a burst of blue spiritual energy at a target in a similar manner to 31, but over a wider area and with more power.
Incantation: "Ye lord! Mask of flesh and bone, flutter of wings, ye who bears the name of Man! Truth and temperance, upon this sinless wall of dreams unleash but slightly the wrath of your claws."
- 63. Raikōhō | Thunder Roar Cannon | Fires a massive wave of yellow energy at a target.
Incantation: "Sprinkled on the bones of the beast! Sharp tower, red crystal, steel ring. Move and become the wind, stop and become the calm. The sound of warring spears fills the empty castle!"
- 63. Sōren Sōkatsui | Twin Lotus Blue Fire, Crash Down | Essentially a doubled version of #33, this spell fires two shots of blue fire with greater potency than the single-shot variety.
Incantation: "Ye lord! Mask of blood and flesh, all creation, flutter of wings, ye who bears the name of Man! On the wall of blue flame, inscribe a twin lotus. In the abyss of conflagration, wait at the far heavens."
OTHER ABILITIES:
- Shun-Po Mastery:
Yoritomo has reached a state where he has mastered his shun-po technique. He is perhaps one of the fastest captains in the Gotei 13, although there are a few still faster than him.
- Immense Spiritual Pressure:
With Yoritomo being one of the oldest of all the captains, it is not hard to understand why he has such a high spiritual pressure. Although there is obviously a few others that have a large amount of reiatsu, Yoritomo definitely has one of the highest levels.
- Deductive Reasoning:
Yoritomo tends to be able to figure out what is going on in any particular situation from merely observing the facts presented. It is because of his calm nature and keen intellect that he is able to do so.
ZANPAKUTO;
Zurui Hebi (Cunning Serphent) Unreleased Zanpakutou: Yoritomo's zanpaktou is perhaps the only interesting thing about him. His zanpaktou in it's unreleased state looks like two forked short swords. These blades allow for a great variety of options in combat, the forked design allowing Yoritomo to catch enemy's blades and twisting them from their hands, the forked design also means that should the blade penetrate, the wound will be almost impossible to stitch back together. Furthermore the fact that in the unsealed state the zanpaktou is two blades allows for Yoritomo to simotaneously be on the defensive and offensive.
- Zanpakuto Spirit: It must be said that this spirit does look rather...evil? It is a large serpent that stands about twenty feet tall when Yoritomo is standing beside it. It has a mangy head of black hair and disturbingly his scales appear as if they too were a multitude of snake heads, although they are in fact just scales. Perhaps the most unsettling thing are his eyes which look reptile at first, but whenever one stands closer they seem to look human. Even more unsettling is the area in which Yoritomo meets the beast. The area is dark and seems to press in on you, normally it takes the form of a wooden box with a single door too small for Zurui Hebi to have gotten in. However, from time to time when Yoritomo is in mid-sentence the place will change to a large cave lit by small bowls of oil placed around. It is odd in how quickly it changes and even more that the Hebi never mentions the change. As for the Hebi's personality, that may be the most odd thing about this little spirit. With the harsh settings and evil appearance you might think the serpent to be cruel or something of the like. In truth he is lazy and tries to be funny (unsuccessfully). Often when Yoritomo comes to talk with him Hebi can not even remember his name so he simply calls him the first thing that comes to his head. Ninety percent of the time this leads the Hebi to call Yoritomo "Chame" which means urchin. This is due to Yoritomo's young looks and shabby appearance.
- Shikai Phrase: "Taint the World and Let It Fester! Zurui Hebi!"
- Shikai Appearance:In the shikai form the sword has completely changed it's appearance. The blade is the same length and weight, but that is where the similarities end. The hilt has transformed to have a snakes head at the base with the eyes pointing towards the ground. The head has vibrant red eyes and a red tongue out of it's mouth, but the tongue is only seen when the third ability is being used. Otherwise the mouth remains closed. Both the hilt and sheath are now wrapped in snake skin, it being a dull copper, almost brown coloration. It also feels like snake skin should anyone grasp it, but at the same time it feels too smooth for it's appearance. Even the blade looks to have formed snake scales, although these are simply etched into the blade. One of the most notable changes is the hand guard, which has changed from the coiled serpent to fangs coming up both the front and back of the sword. In review this sword has changed completely from it original form become very unique with no sword like it.
- Shikai Abilities:
Hebi Kokyuu - (Serpent's Breath): This is the first of the zanpaktou's abilities. Perhaps it's most versatile one at that. This ability causes the sword to release a poisonous gas from the hilt and hand guard which will within seconds cover a fifty cubic foot area. It is odorless & colorless, the only thing that allows it to be detected is the taste of honey oddly. By the time they taste this though it is too late as the poison will be entering their body. They could however leave the area of effect, although it would take around five to ten minutes for the poison in their system to dissipate. The poison is not lethal by itself, it is actually a mixture of a hallucinogen that causes whoever comes in the field to see vivid colors and hallucinations. It should be noted that this poison doesn't not effect the sword's owner (Yoritomo), he could even drop to sword and still not be effected by it.
Hebi Shikon - (Serpent's Fang): The second of this zanpaktou's abilities is it's true offensive ability. It is not truly deadly by itself, but like Hebi Kokyuu it helps weaken and hamper the opponent enabling Yoritomo to deal a killing blow more easily. The purpose of this poison is to wear away at the opponent's stamina. It takes several cuts and some time, but eventually the opponent begins to become exhausted as they fight. It has been thought that Yoritomo's Shikai allows him to continue to become stronger and faster, but in truth the opponent simply become slower and weaker. This ability is metaphorically a double-edged sword. While the poison grants him a chance at fighting someone stronger then himself by weakening them, it also means he has only his blade to deal true damage.
Bankai- Release Phrase: "Release the Miasma of Decay and Let the World Wither and Die...Bankai..."
- Bankai Appearence: Honestly the changes to Yoritomo's appearance are few. Even the weapon looks exactly like the shikai did. The differences are there, simply more subtle. The mouth of the snake that makes up the hilt of the sword has now opened, the fangs now revealed. Other than that only two changes can be noticed, both of which are once again subtle. Yoritomo's skin tone has become slightly darkened with a slight copper tint to it. The last change, perhaps the most noticeable one of them all is Yoritomo's eyes. His eyes have become more tilted with a golden iris. All in all they look more reptile like, specifically snake like... Even though there has not been many changes the new amount of power is quite impressive. The little difference in appearance causes most enemies to think Yoritomo has either not mastered his bankai, that he had been unable to call upon it or that it did not give him much strength...underestimating the deadliness is what makes a snake deadly...the same way it makes Shidan Yoritomo deadly.
- Bankai Abilities:
Shinsei Shikon - (True Fang): It is only when the small mouth on the hilt of Yoritomo's zanpaktou opens that the blade shows it true lethality. The poison no longer attacks the opponent's stamina, but now attack their physical body. This poison is truly deadly, while it does not instantly kill someone it can cause a quickened death. From the moment the blade parts flesh the poison starts to work. Attacking the white blood cells that might try to resist, then the poison attacks the heart. Due to the nature of the poison, death by it would require a good deal of hits, or perhaps only one or two hits if they were extremely deep. (By this I mean if the blade is lanced through an opponent or if it makes a very large slash along the opponents torso. Cuts less than five inches count as small wounds and it would taken a little more than a dozen for the poison to ensure a kill.)
Hebi Sukin - (Snake Skin): The slight copper tint that has appeared in Yoritomo's skin is actually one of his bankai's abilities. Just below Yoritomo's skin a set of scales has appeared, the skin on top is now only a dead husk that will begin to tear away from hits. The scales themselves are fairly strong, they are by no means impenetrable, but they cause most slashes to glance off of the captain. The only sure way to break past the scales is for piercing attacks.
Notes: It should also be noted that Yoritomo's speed, stamina and strength have all increased, with speed increasing the most out of the three. Yoritomo's speed is faster than most, his body adapting a snake like striking speed. It should be also noted that Hebi Kokyuu no longer remains active in this form.
WHAT ABOUT THE PAST?;
Yoritomo had been the son of a herbalist on Earth, even when he was alive he had never needed to know the date, but it was 1506 when he died. He died from drinking the wrong tonic from his father's store. It was a sad death, but not out of the ordinary. He was buried under a cherry tree beside his mother and his father visited his grave for many years before he too died. None of that mattered to Yoritomo of course. Yes he would like it that his father loved him, but the moment he died he was found by a soul reaper after only two hours of being dead. The reason being that they had been sent down hours before his death to exterminate a hollow. The konso was performed and Yoritomo lost the memories of his father, his mother... his entire life. The moment the hilt of that zanpaktou touched his head he went to soul society.
He woke up wearing the same clothes he had died in oddly enough. A pair of worn brown trousers and a dark grey shirt that had some stains and tears in it. He was utterly lost and had no idea how he had gotten there, hell he didn't know much of anything really. About the only thing he could remember was his name. Shidan Yoritomo... Even that was a bit fuzzy, but after saying it a few times it was secure in his mind.
With no question for what had happened to him he ran towards a nearby group of buildings. He didn't remember anything, but he knew that he was thirsty. He came into said town to find some people. Most walked away when he tried to speak. Only one said anything to him at all and that was where a well was. Yoritomo tried to thank the man, but he just turned his back on Yoritomo. Shaking his head he ran off to drink his water.
=- Time Skip: Seven Years -=
Yoritomo awoke to a cold morning and a dull sun. It was still early, but he had to leave before the owner of this home woke. He had stayed the night on their doorstep where he was sheltered from the wind. Jumping up into a low crouch he trotted forward breaking into a jog. He went through a market district grabbing small bits of food as he went. He didn't understand why, but he was always hungry. Most people just needed water, but he had to have food all the time. Someone had told him before that it was something to do with spiritual power, but before he got more the man had looked up to see who it was and asked Yoritomo to leave. Said he didn't want no trouble from his ilk.
He never could understand why people didn't trust him, but he had learned to live with it soon after coming here. Trotting on he looked back to make sure that he was not being followed. The next thing he knew he was waking up. He was laying on the ground and staring at the sky. His chest was sore, but he ignored the pain as he leaped up into a crouching position. There was a man before him wearing black robes. It was one of those shinigami he had heard about. He had only seen one once in his life, mainly because he had stayed away from most people and preferred to live off the land.
The man was still lowering his arm when Yoritomo got up, obviously he had been clothes-lined by this man. Yoritomo, curious as to why he did it watched as the man picked up the few bits of food he had stole: An apple, a pear and a single small fish. He only smiled before he said "I noticed what you did. I won't turn you in, but I won't give you these back either. If you are hungry I know where you could go. I am sure the shinigami academy has better food than this. I can already tell you are fairly strong, though you lack the control to use it."
Yoritomo was furious that his food was being taken, he was ready to attack the man before he realized something... This was the first man to talk to him more than five seconds. The only person who had even started a conversation with him that was not trying to steal from him or get him drawn into something undesirable. Suddenly to even the shinigami's surprise Yoritomo smiled for the first time since he had came to this place and simply said "Lead the way."
=- Summary: Academy Days: Seven Years -=
Yoritomo's days in the academy were fairly uneventful. He simply went to his classes and absorbed every ounce of knowledge they could offer. In his sixth year he purposefully failed a class just so he could stay. In part so he could learn more and in part because he was actually scared to leave. Even though he was now an equal to most of these academy students he still felt like the outsider, he didn't have any friends. It was not their fault this time either. It was his... some students tried to talk to him, but he barely managed to get more than a few words out of his mouth at a time. After many embarrassing moments Yoritomo finally decided he had to move on and graduated his seventh year in the academy.
Naturally once he left the academy Yoritomo had to take the test like all other shinigami that would determine what division he was placed into. The test itself was rather difficult, but even more tedious than anything. In the end Yoritomo was placed into the 6th division, Internal Affairs. The reason he was placed there was not entirely clear, but he assumed it was because he tended to put rules and laws before people. The next day he reported to the barracks and was amazed at how kind the captain was. He was one of the few people he was ever able to say more than five words to.
(Time Skip: 25 Years)
Having just turned sixty years old, but looking only like he was nineteen Yoritomo acted more how he looked. A teenager, lost in the large world. Captain Himatsu would find him one day, hidden away in an alley. Yoritomo had been sitting there for several hours, ever since he had gone out of the Seireitei and encountered some of the people he had known in the eighty-first district. They had never been close friends, but they had helped each other every now and again. The closest he had gotten to having friends or even a family outside before coming to the academy. He had gone to see how they were doing and they had tried to attack him, tried to kill him. They had called him scum for joining with the Shinigami...He hadn't understood any of it and simply ran. He could have killed them, but some part still wanted to see them live.
The captain brought him back to his office and sat Yoritomo down in an attempt to talk with him. Himatsu told him that there would always be those out there who would hate him. That particular part of Yoritomo's life was over... Now he had to focus at the task at hand and focus on the family he had found. Himatsu gave a simple pat on Yoritomo's shoulder before leaving to attend a meeting of the captain, leaving Yoritomo to sit in the office alone thinking of what he said.
It was now that Yoritomo promised to find his purpose here. That he would be the type of man, much like his captain. Someone the other division members could depend on, someone that all of Soul Society could depend on to fight tooth and nail for them...
(Time Skip: 210 Years)
It was a rather windy, but otherwise pleasant day when Yoritomo was summoned to captain Himatsu's office. He sat him down telling him the the Lt. of their division had passed away while on a mission and that he wanted to know who he thought could replace him. Yoritomo without hesitation said "Well Captain, no one can really replace him, but some suitable canidates are known to me." He went through a short list of various shinigami. Some already held high seats while others held only lower seats, but surprisingly he did not say his own name. Perhaps it was that or perhaps the captain always intended it, but after he ran off his list she said "You missed who I've picked for the position...You Yoritomo. You will be my new Lieutenant."
Yoritomo was stunned for a few seconds, but then went ahead and stood bowing to the Captain thanking him for the position and promising not to let him down. He merely smiled and waved him out of his office. From then Yoritomo served as his Lieutenant faithfully. Yoritomo eventually became almost as important to the group as Captain Himatsu. The division members knew him well, although he was odd they still liked him. He was also the one doing most of the "grunt" work or managing the day to day duties.
(Time Skip: 104 Years)
Yoritomo proved to be an invaluable Lieutenant to Himatsu. He did everything possible and learned a great deal from the captain. He even learned his Bankai while under the captain, his bankai being deemed the strongest poison type that had been seen by his captain. The beauty of Yoritomo's zanpaktou was that he did not have to show it very often, usually those who did see it died or didn't know what had hit them. As for his actual bankai, he had only used it in combat a handful of times while fighting very powerful hollows.
It was only after getting back from a rather important mission, where he had been tracking a rouge shinigami down that he heard news two days old. Captain Himatsu had disappeared with no explanation. The Seireitei was in an uproar with everyone wondering if Himatsu had been murdered, taken hostage or if he had simply abandoned them. No one knew what had happened, but the Captain-Commander could not leave the Division without a head and so he placed Yoritomo in command as Acting Captain.
Yoritomo was stunned and had no idea what to do. He did his best, but even though this sort of thing fell to the sixth division to investigate, they were kept out of it for the time being. It would be determined that there was no evidence of foul play of any sort, if he had been taken hostage then no demands had been made...the only option was that he had abandoned them all. This realization struck a heavy blow to Yoritomo. For months he barely did his job, he hardly slept, he didn't eat much...he was truly hurt to the core. The only man he had been able to truly become friends with had just disappeared. It was only later that Yoritomo promised himself that he would one day find what happened to Himatsu...that he would find out why he had abandoned the division...
(Time Skip: Current Date)
Over a hundred years has passed, Yoritomo is very much the same man that he was when he first took over. He still is liked by his division, but tends to unsettle other Gotei Thirteen members. In part due to the duties he performs, spying on the other squads and looking to prune the limbs from the tree that is the Seireitei. Other than that, the only thing that has changed is that Yoritomo has become much stronger than he was when he was a Lieutenant...He had been made the official captain a year after Himatsu had gone missing... One thing that had unfortunately not changed was the fact that Yoritomo has yet to discover what happened to Himatsu...it is a black mark on his record that upsets Yoritomo to no end...

The poison for your Shikai is FAR too strong. Instant death in seven minutes from a complex poison. Stating yourself the likes of which have not been seen in Hueco Mundo, Soul Society, or the human world. As such the poison would likely take far longer than seven minutes to analyze, this would even take into account someone being able to move instantly to a location where someone was intelligent enough to do so. For the most part once you cut an enemy they are dead? Eh....?
Also your bankai poison... pretty much gives the enemy AIDs... and they are either forced to amputate if they are lucky, or die... okay then. No. There is NO side effect to any of your abilities, to you. They are all for the most part instant kill, especially considering your strikes are 'unbelievably fast' in your bankai state. So, even if physically you weren't as strong, you would merely need to graze an enemy for them to be dead. Not going to cut it. As well, take out kido 88 and 91. I would prefer to save Kido like that for an actual kido using captain.

Yea, sorry that was a bit OP'd. I am actually a little mad at myself for even trying that. I weaken most the abilities. The Shikai fang ability is now non-lethal as well and simply weakens the opponent's strength and speed over time.
The bankai true fang ability is still lethal, but takes a great deal more wounds than one (unless they get the entire blade run through them or such). I also took out 88 and 91 so I should have hit all the edits you asked for. I also changed the wording for speed. He is not teleporting or anything like that, but he is faster than most. Which I think is somewhat appropriate seeing as his abilities for the most part take time to act.
