Name; Kurenai Yuuhi
Name Meaning; Crimson Evening Sun
Alias; "That's what she said"
Age; 291
Gender; Female
Race; Shinigami
Rank; Cap'n
Power Class; A
HOW DO YOU LOOK?;
- Crimson Eyes
- Ebony Hair
- Marble Skin
- Heels
Watching from Kurenai's face, are two colourful orbs in a rich colour; crimson. Framed by ebony locks of a little past shoulder length hair, the apperance of the Fourth Division's captain, isStanding at something above five feet and a few inches, Kurenai is neither tall, nor lacking height. Taking in the form of her body, size and weight, one might call her apperance a well-found mixture between delicate and womanly.
In office, she wears the usual uniform of a shinigami serving in the Gotei 13; a black kimono. Fitting her body finely, the work of silk falls to the mid of her thighs, where it transforms into a more robe-like application. While the back of her legs are framed by the black material still, her front and knees are revealed, as her lower garments appear more so to be a flowing skirt of sorts, than the hakama, which a shinigami would usually display. The colour of her skirt is crimson, quite like the shade of her eyes, and held by a purple obi sash.
Following this, also a unique tidbit in her attire, is the choice of her footwear. Not sporting the usual white socks and rush-binding, Kurenai lets a pair of black sandals clad her feet, in which she prefers to walk bare-feet. Thus, in a whole display, and with their gentle heels, the captain gives quite a bit of sight on her legs, and often the echoing footsteps of her can be heard, proclaimed her arrival with gentle, swaying waves of sound.
The last bit of her apperance is made up by her rank's insignia, consisting of a white haori, bearing the kanji and markings of the Yonbantai. There are many ways, in which such a jacket-like overthrow can be cut, and in the female's case, it takes almost the shape of a coat. Sporting a collar, whereas a normal haori wouldn't, Kurenai's piece of white garment is also tighter and gives a more sharp, or rather wake look.
Of course, as any shinigami would, Kurenai displays her Zanpakutou, openly carrying the purifying symbol of Shinigami task-and-duty at her left side. The sword's blackwood handle neatly finishes with the colour of her kimono, and just partially appears on the side of her haori's left flank. While the sword's handle too is black, the blade's cross-guard and edges are held by red lanes.
HOW DO YOU FEEL?;
PERSONALITY;
- Defined and Strong
- Friendly
- Playful
- Teasing
- Seductive
- Sometimes smiling, always grinnin'
- Femininly Manipulative (It's for your own good)
Kurenai has a strong personality, that is foremost guided by a mixture of two important 'organs', which she believes to be capable of decision making. Both the heart of emotion and the mind of reason; both are two concepts she has experienced throughout her life and she tries to see both as parts of the greater picture, which define personality and the simple question of
"Why do people act, like they act ?"
She is very intelligent and her eyes see through, while not doubtful, she thinks and debates over decisions to be made, or even about a person she just met. She will not place anyone in a grid of sorts, rather observe and let them do on their own, for as long as they can, or want to.
Of course, being a healer, there comes a limitation to the later prospect of letting people move on their own, even in a case of acute sickness or injury. Saving a life, is a gain, she is very much willed to sacrifice a patient's ego for and beat them back in the resting place of the hospital's confines.
In office, she appears strong-willed and dedicated, to the members of her squad, and the Fourth Division's standing among the ranks of the other platoons. Training herself and the members of her squad to ever-new heights, she insists that everyone knows their way around and to handle their sword. Spells of Binding and Spells of Destruction, as much as Spells of Healing. It is demanding, one could say, yet also a proven concept that protects and makes for strong-willed shinigami.
She doesn't believe in true weakness, only so much as lacking confidence and/or will. The two instances can be reinstated and rejuvinated, both she so believes as a healer. The co-relation once more, the unity of the body, for it houses heart and mind, a medic's responsibility is every ounce and fibre of being as a whole. One has to understand and learn, each time again, before one can will to change.

ZANPAKUTO;
Itonami
The blade is covered by a sheath, made of black, ebony-like wood. Pearly, and with a distant gleam, the sword's outer form seems to swallow light gently, and absorb its warmth to create an aura of distant beauty. Released from its scabbard, the katana-style weapon shows the length of some two feet, a little more, with a softly-swayed curve at its end. The handle is covered in wrappings of black and crimson. Its crossguard faintly translates to the image of falling, swaying leaves.
- Zanpakuto Spirit: Itonami translates to "life" or the "force of life" in a more thriving variation; and thus its inner world and spirit display that connection to creation itself: A vastly blue sky, with only few remnants of clouds, giving an infinity in the sky, which covers equally vast, and wide plains of a grassy land, close with a river coming along to donate the gift of water. There, in the shadow of the proudest, most venerable trees of all, rests a blond-haired man. A vagabond from the looks of it, displaying nature's turn, as it sits, lazily waits and yet, both watches and feels all. His head against the tree, his palms holding the grass. His back on the earth, and the toes of his feet in the passing river's blue - he displays the Zanpakuto spirit, in a world of peaceful landscape.
- Shikai Phrase: "Namikaze, Itonami !" (Swaying Currents of Life)
- Shikai Appearence: Shikai does not alter the blade's apperance.
- Shikai Abilities: Bearing that strong connection to nature, Itonami is an elemental-style Zanpakuto; only does it not wield destructive orbs of wind, or torrents of sizzling flames; it rather so displays nature and life, through the elements of earth, water and wood.
One of its most basic releases and sightful Shikai applications is released on the words of "Yureru" (Float and Fly) Once spoken, a cluster of leaves will form and seemingly ride on a gentle sway of wind, forming a breeze in order to attack with. This is not manipulation of wind in itself, rather a supplementary effect of the countless mass of falling leaves, now riding through the air. They can be used for a multilude of prospects, but most importantly it should be noted, that Kurenai may decided the structure of the leaves' density by the input of her reiatsu. Is it gentle and smooth, the leaves will feel kind and gentle, almost like a lover's caress on one's skin. Yielding however, once the Shinigami's spirit is enraged and tasked with the protection of her squad, the array of swaying green will turn and cut the opponent in a barrage of a thousand strikes at once. In this state, they are infused with her very reitatsu and spiritual pressure; thus mere flames, or half-witted attempts to destroy the leaves, will be met with little success. Despite the shape it takes, it is an offensive technique as any other.
"Houyou, Itonami," (Embrace), is a specialised application of Kurenai's Shikai - in this state, upon release, a gentle cover of leaves will form around anything she desires, most of the time however, this is used to protect or create a barrier of sorts. As a defensive technique, the leaves will wrap between an attack and its target, securing the victim by removing it from the fight in a pass of guidance, away from the conflict. Once they come to a halt, and only play in an uninterupted, gentle dance of leaves around the person in question, Kurenai can infuse them with her own reiatsu, giving them strength to survive, and to hold onto their stage of existance, quite as if she was performing a healing spell on them.
Another application of Shikai is Konoha (Hidden in Leaves), which is based on the regular release's ability to create a cluster of leaves; only this time it will cover Kurenai herself, and mask her spirtual presence, while she utilizes ShunpƓ in order to attack her opponent from behind. Lastly so, as means of evading a crushing attack, Kurenai can redeploy, using the covers of her leaves to form a replication of her body, which takes the hit as replacement; Konoha Bunshin.
Bankai
- Release Phrase: "Banshou, Itonami" (Create Life)
- Bankai Appearence: No change in the sword-shape.
- Bankai Abilities: Upon the Bankai's revelation, Itonami has the ability to spark the seed of life itself, by creating wood, in the shape of tree-like growth, breaking from below the earth's surface. Flexible and strong, this spirutal powerful wood can be used for a multitude of tasks and be utilized to either crush, constrict, or demolish an opponent. More imporantly though, surrounding by a sprouting forest, the very Shikai's ability seems to grow more intense; the very amount of leaves produced and carried through the wind darkening the sky and clouding both vision and the light. Furthering her own abilities, Kurenai can now merge and become one with the sprouting veins of her wood work, in order to attack from the shadows or create a barrier, which only she can pass through easily.
The Bankai's offensive ability, par the ability to create a never-ending amount of wood sprouting, is quite an explosive one. Sacrificing the rich spiritual pressure to force an explosion of magnificent power and range, after all, fueled and sparked by the strength of life itself, as the technique's reiatsu overloads and blows up.
There's more to the Bankai, but that will be submitted in time, when the character makes steps to further her mastery of Bankai.
WHAT ABOUT THE PAST?;
After having completed Shinigami Academy, Kurenai was asigned to the Fifth Squad, because of her latent talent for Kidou and its many spells, showing great prowess in Bakudou and Hadou. She was a good student, as claimed by the lot of her teachers, and many had expressed confidence in the dark-haired recruit to gain a seated position in one of the squads.
Though, as training progressed under the more experienced members of the Fifth, she was approached by the Fourth's captain of the time. Throughout the history of Gotei 13, the Fifth and Fourth have worked closely together in terms of recruiting and training, given both squads' relation to the importance of Kidou as a tool, in the arsenal of the Shinigami. She was being swayed to join the Medical Corps, yet her dedication and will to fight kept her from joining the caretaking wing. Staying in the barracks of the Fifth, she trained on and rather sharpened her skills in battle than to study the books of healing - yet.
It was some time later, that within a dark night, misfortune struck the ranks of the Shinigami, and a partial Hollow attack, almost a wide intrusion, spread into the walls of Fourth and Fifth Divisions' compounds and forced healer and fighter to iluminate the night's darkness with glowing spells, both of restauration and destruction. In those hours of fight, when she saw healer die because of the lack of power, and fighter die because of the lack of a healer close, that she realized the Fourth Division's unique standing among the troops of the Shinigami.
Those who heal, bear responsibility to all. And yet, while they do so, they also bear the responsibility to themselves, to be able to fight on their own - full-fledged warriors, with not only medical expertise - She defined her ideal status of the division, and swayed once more, found her way from the Fifth Sixth-Seat to Fourth's Third. Having risen in the ranks of the divisions' seated officers', she seemed to pay due to credit to her teachers' estimations about her career.
Eventually though, there came the time, in which the Fourth Division's definition of leadership was newly defined. Not liking the current captain's way to lead the division, she challenged the leader-of-the-time, and brought him down in a clashing duel of two healers; claiming her own spot as captain, before the eyes of four-hundred Shinigami. While this might seem contradictory to her role and the division she serves, her actions held the promise of political change. She believed the squad's organization and make-up in itself to stand on ill-footing, but with the conservative captain unwilling to pass, she had to claim the rank for herself, in order for a small revolution to happen, and to direct the division's focus away from only serving as the stalemate healers, but to stand shoulder-to-shoulder with Seireitei's fighting divisions.
Fairly young herself, for the rank of captain, Kurenai is considered an achieved personality in the Gotei 13, and little can mess with her expterise in the way of healing Kidou, all the way more so, she is nothing less than a captain on the field of battle, and far away from one being to tend wounds and heal, those who have been struck, only.
