Brief summary of thread: Arrancar have been spotted around the mountain region near Karakura. Lanza maybe? Shinigami of Captain and Vice Captain rankings have been sent to investigate. Will there be skirmishes, or just an investigation? The lead for the mission is Squad 13's Captain, Zouma Santeku, who is an expert on all forms of transportation. He is good at tracking people as well due to this, and also noticing what they use to get around.
The Senkaimon opened up, a white flash behind a Japanese style wooden double door. It unveiled numerous shinigami, who dropped down to the bottom of the mountain with quick grace, a fluid set of maneuvers. The first one out was the Captain leading this operation. Zouma Santeku. Though he had only become a Captain within the last few years, and though he didn't have an absolute mastery of Bankai, nor could he apply some of the Kido he'd learned in battle due to lack of mastery, he was strong none the less. Zouma was one of those people that quickly gave off a feeling of confidence and security, in addition to power. It wasn't like he couldn't handle a Lanza if he faced one. While he could be considered a "low tier Captain", Zouma was anything but. His powers weren't an absolute match for one of the higher Lanza. He could fight on par with them, but his powers would be overtaken by superior reiatsu.
No, what made Zouma dangerous was the way he could use his powers. He had a stunning amount of control over it. Not mastery of its power, but a steady control for how to direct his attacks. What also made him dangerous was the fact that Zouma had very brutal strategies. Even if he didn't have a total mastery of his powers, Zouma knew very well how to fight. He had created strategies and custom maneuvers that would baffle most enemies, and bring them into a stance of wide open posture, meaning that Zouma would have the utmost ease with picking them off. This was the Captain of Squad 13. He could be considered low tier, but at the same time he could also be considered dangerous. When facing adversaries, Zouma took note of their power level, and what strategies would best be used against them. His own physical training meant that he had a good portion of stamina.
He had a stamina that wouldn't run out in minutes, but would rather drain over the course of the battle. Of course, a full minute or more of fighting at the peak of one's power and skill, could tire anyone. Oftentimes, people did not do this. If they did, the battle would end too quickly, and whoever won, the winner would be exhausted; an open target for anyone else that wanted to bite off a piece. In truth, Zouma was just one of those guys that didn't want to die early. He was bound for great things, that was his belief. His squad loved him, and he'd done a pretty good job so far. Of course, he wasn't too fond of using his release. It made him feel weak whenever an enemy forced him to release. Zouma released generally to show off. He liked to hold back. Sometimes he considered that he would rather get beaten to a pulp than use his Bankai too much, than show it off.
Still, Zouma had a mastery of Shikai as well. He'd long since mastered the powers of the first stage of his release. It wasn't like he couldn't use that to its full extent. He'd been training with it for years. And an absolute mastery of Shikai was required to unlock Bankai anyway. With that absolute mastery, Zouma could well challenge numerous adversaries that most shinigami wouldn't even dream of. But, why wouldn't he be able to? Being a Captain was good for that. These thoughts were racing through Zouma's head as the mission began. Being the first to touch down, Zouma was the first that got to investigate. Extending his senses and tracing the reiatsu in the air was child's play. Identifying the type of gate that had been used to move around was also child's play. The difficulty came in determining the location, something that really wasn't easy, and something that would probably be impossible with just the meager evidence they could collect.
"Garganta." Zouma muttered. "It's been used here. The Reiatsu is strong, I'm assuming a higher level Arrancar used it. Someone was strong enough to create a large one, capable of fitting numerous large hollow, probably Gillian and Adjuchas." Zouma's sword was sheathed, though he could draw it in an instant if he wished. He was fast enough to do this, for he'd practiced. Zouma's main skill wasn't physical strength, it was speed. Speed was essential for someone like Zouma, who relied on skill and magic type abilities to win fights. He looked around, his eyes scanning the area. "They're nowhere near." he said. "And yet, their presence is so recent..."
